The ALUSB EMBA is designed for ambitious, working professionals aspiring to catalyse prosperity, lead change and drive impact across the African continent. We employ a holistic admissions process examining your academic achievements, work experience, professional aspirations and leadership potential, in order to understand how you might benefit from the ALUSB EMBA, make your impact to the world and contribute to the business school community.

EMBA Admissions Requirements

WORK EXPERIENCE

Similar to an executive EMBA program, ALUSB generally requires that applicants have at least 5 years of substantive, post graduate work experience, evidencing career progression. This part-time program is for working professionals, therefore we expect that you are professionally occupied for the duration of this program.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

A dynamic career that demonstrates career progression speaks to leadership potential. We also look for opportunities that you have taken to lead throughout your academic and professional experience.

INTELLECTUAL PREPAREDNESS

We look for students who demonstrate high analytical aptitude and an ability to

 rapidly master new concepts. Our students should also have completed a Bachelor’s Degree.

COMMITMENT

The ALUSB EMBA is a demanding, 20-month programme. It will take grit and discipline to complete. Expect to commit at least 20 hours per week to your part-time studies during online EMBA periods. Much emphasis is placed on group work and peer learning. We therefore expect every member of the ALUSB community to be a team-player; hardworking and committed to delivering excellence to their teams.

EMBA Application Process

  • Start your application

    Start and submit your EMBA application.

  • Application review

    The Admissions team will carefully review your application.

  • Admission decision

    Your admission decision will be communicated to you via email.

  • Complete post-admissions requirements

    Complete the enrolment process via your Admissions Portal.

  • Matriculation

    Arrival and matriculation in Kigali, Rwanda.

Application Checklist

The ALUSB EMBA application process includes the following elements:

  • About You

    Share insights into your personal background.

    Provide details about your academic journey.

  • Professional

    Highlight your valuable work experience.

  • Motivational

    Express your motivations and aspirations. This section includes three essay questions and a video submission.

  • Financial

    Outline your funding or financing plan.

The following documents are required for your application:

  • Form of Identification

    Ensure a valid proof of identity.

  • A-level or Equivalent Diploma

    Verify your completion of A-level studies.

  • Bachelor's Degree Transcripts

    Share your academic achievements.

  • Bachelor's Degree Diploma or Certification

    Verify your completion of undergraduate studies.

  • Proof of Funding/Financing Plan

    Detail your financial arrangements for the program.

Degree Equivalence

In compliance with Rwandan Higher Education Council (HEC) regulations, ALUSB requires that all admitted students who received a bachelor’s degree in a non-Rwandan institution undergo a degree equivalence process before they are matriculated.

The equivalence process and is done via the online Rwandan government platform named Irembo and involves the steps below:

 
  • STEP 1

    Obtain secondary school equivalence from the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) to obtain a Secondary/High School Equivalence Certificate. This includes providing your Secondary/High School Certificate and is a prerequisite for the next step. You do not need to apply for NESA Equivalence if you completed Secondary/High School in Rwanda but a have Bachelor degree from a foreign institution.

  • STEP 2

    Bachelor degree equivalence via the Rwandan Higher Education Council (HEC) to gain a Bachelor Degree Equivalence Certificate. For more information, please visit the HEC website.

Note: 

  • All academic documents should be in French/English; Any other language should be translated by a recognised translator.
  • All documents should be notarized by a public notary in Rwanda or at a Rwandan EEMBAssy (ALUSB can facilitate this for you).
